From initial contact to meeting.

Should you wish to contact me, I will respond, answer any questions, and should you wish - organise a convenient time for a free 30 minute first meeting. This could be in-person, or via telephone / online.

In this first meeting I am very happy to answer any questions you have and will ask you what may have brought you to look for a counsellor / therapist. I would forward you a copy of my therapy contract and suggest times when we could meet for a first session.

If you choose to go ahead, we would then meet for a first therapy session — often called an assessment. I’ll explain a little more about how I work, and we’ll go through the therapy agreement together. The rest of the session is your space — a chance for you to talk about whatever feels important. I may ask you some questions, but mostly I’ll listen.

This session gives you the opportunity to explore what issues have brought you here, any hopes or goals you have, and to ask me anything else that’s on your mind. We’ll then decide together whether to book further sessions — and I’ll always give you space to think about it after the session if you need time to reflect.

If you decide to continue, I usually recommend meeting weekly. I also suggest we set regular points to review how the work is going — how you are, how we are, and whether the therapy continues to feel right for you.
